Taoyuan City, commonly known as Taoyuan, or , is a municipality directly under the Central Government of the Republic of China and one of the six capitals of Taiwan. As one of the largest Hakka cities in Taiwan, Taoyuan is a dual-core city located in the northwestern part of Taiwan’s main island. It is a member of the "Capital Living Circle" and the "Peach and Bamboo Seedling Living Circle". In some commercial investments, it is also considered to be one of the components of the Greater Taipei area. Taoyuan City covers an area of 1,220 square kilometers and has a registered population of 2.26 million (as of October 2020). It borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Yilan County to the east, New Taipei City to the north, and Hsinchu County to the south. The active population is about 2.5 million, including 120,000 foreign residents, making it the fifth-largest municipality in the Republic of China in terms of population.
